Found a better explanation and a potential fix.
Are you using a non-bash login shell with that user by any chance?
I get the same error when I switch to tcsh for example.
The simple fix is here:

Can you try this beta package and see if the problem goes away:
https://www.xpra.org/beta/CentOS/6.3/i386/xpra-0.6.0-1.el6.i386.rpm
(if so, I'll update 0.5 asap)
