What does your server log file contain?

The opengl option is only used by the client, and if it's the server
that hangs then what rendering is used the client is unlikely to make
much of a difference there - though that's not impossible.

Applications can never be moved to another DISPLAY.

What you can do is recover the display and the application still running
there by starting a new xpra server connected to that display.
ie for DISPLAY=:10
xpra start :10 --use-display
