After the release, a few bugs were identified, one of which was a fairly significant regression, and so I decided not to push the packages just yet. I was hoping to get the fixes out quickly after so I didn't send a notice email, but those fixes turned out to be more involved than I would have liked, and this is taking a bit longer than planned. There are beta 0.14.16 packages in the beta area, which should be pretty close to the final 0.14.16, I am just waiting on a bit more testing feedback. It should finally fix a number of window handling issues, as well as various platform specific build issues and other minor refresh issues. Those on less than full speed connection may also see a noticeable performance improvement. Release notes: * fix window decorations handling (large change): _MOTIF_WM_HINTS * add support for _NET_WM_MOVERESIZE (needed by some undecorated windows) * fix window iconification loop on connection * fix maximized and fullscreen state synchronization * fix OpenCL error with Nvidia hardware * fix screen update region merging heuristics * fix Fedora 21+ dummy detection when building from source * fix build with limited Python environments * fix network dropouts caused by invalid client properties stored * fix throttling of video refresh * fix webp transparency compression * honour requests to raise window (Java toFront) * add ability to disable region merging for debugging purposes * add missing Ubuntu Utopic dependencies The source: https://xpra.org/src/ Binaries/repositories: https://winswitch.org/downloads/ Direct binary downloads: https://xpra.org/dists/ Beta: https://xpra.org/beta/ Cheers Antoine From office at ets2.de Sat Jan 10 15:38:22 2015 From: office at ets2.de (Office) Date: Sat, 10 Jan 2015 15:38:22 +0000 Subject: [winswitch] Winswitch Installation issue on Debian Message-ID: <54B1476C.10804@ets2.de> Hello, maybe someone could help me to get me on the right track: I'm trying to install Winswitch on Debian Wheezy, which I did before on other machine, but it fails on this machine. When exactly would I need Xinerama? In my setup, I usually have a Linux xpra server and connect via Windows clients where the Windows clients usually have multiple displays which dynamically change (Laptop with different docking stations on different external monitors or no external monitor at all). As I understand I did not use Xinerama at all - so far. So do I need Xinerama in this setup? Do I want it? Why? Second, do I understand correctly that the fakelibXinerama is included automatically in the stable CentOS repositories? So applications running on the server will get the monitor geometry that matches that of the client. Maximize, fullscreen and other geometry functionality is much more likely to work correctly if applications are given the right hints. > Second, do I understand correctly that the fakelibXinerama is included automatically in the stable CentOS repositories? It should be possible and possibly not too hard to implement: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd378459(v=vs.85).aspx In particular: "A single executable file with a UI with multiple modes that appear to the user as separate applications should assign different AppUserModelIDs to each mode. For instance, a portion of an application that users see as an independent experience that they can pin to and launch from the taskbar separately from the rest of the application should have its own AppUserModelID, separate from the main experience." On X11 we do have the concept of a "group leader" and we usually also have access to the PID of the window, so we should be able to separate them. Please file a ticket and I'll try to implement it.
