I use it to launch "pidgin" and "firefox" from my business machine. For now, it is working fine. In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Some of us use it when we want application integration with the client(i.e multiple windows not complete desktop). In our VDI infrastructure we used different technology based on user preference. Some use nomachine others use the spice console(remote-viewer). We also tried x2go based on nx(nomachine). Our results look like this. if you need seamless windows Xpra is the way to go. It is fast and easy to use. There are a couple of stability issues with the mouse but other than that it is getting more stable over time. X2go is also a good candidate for seamless windows integration. But for us some applications are just not working(freezing). I have never tried desktop forwarding with Xpra so i can't comment on that. But overall Xpra is working well if you can pass the stability issue. I remember that xpra + xvfb + html5 client, had its own window manager. Now when I start xpra with the following command: xpra shadow :2020 --no-daemon --bind-tcp=0.0.0.0:14500 --html=on --pulseaudio=yes --clipboard-direction=both --sync-xvfb=10 --encoding=jpeg --quality=40 --auto-refresh-delay=1 --speaker=on --speaker=yes --speaker-codec=mp3 --start-after-connect="xcalc" When I connect with the browser, the window manager is missing (so the mouse events are also not responding correctly). What am I forgetting? (I need to use shadow mode because i record session with ffmpeg and without it, the screen record are blank) Thanks a lot & best regards :) Max From yattamax at gmail.com Sat Sep 19 22:01:03 2020 From: yattamax at gmail.com (Massimiliano Dal Cero) Date: Sat, 19 Sep 2020 23:01:03 +0200 Subject: [winswitch] record audio via pulseaudio with xpra? Message-ID: Hi all, when run a xpra environment with this command: $ xpra start-desktop :2020 --start="fluxbox" --start="xrandr -s 1280x720x16" --no-daemon --bind-tcp=0.0.0.0:14500 --html=on --resize-display=no --encoding=h264 --speaker=on --start="google-chrome" I can hear the sound on the remote client (via html5 client). Also, on the "server" I can record screen with ffmpeg, but without audio (second pulseserver is running, but is recognized only the main pulseserver of the system). $ ffmpeg -f x11grab -video_size "1280x720" -framerate 25 -i :2020.0 -f pulse -i 1 So, my question now is: how can i record both screen and audio? In the same way that you are telling x11grab that your display is at ":2020", you need to tell the pulse grabber that your pulseaudio server is at a specific location. For doing that, the easiest way is to run this command from within the desktop session, as this will have the correct environment variables already setup. Alternatively, you can extract those environment variables from your desktop session and use them with your ffmpeg command line. I have not tested it, but this one might be enough: xpra info | grep env.PULSE_SERVER Cheers, Antoine > > Thanks a lot & best regards :) > Max > _______________________________________________ > shifter-users mailing list > shifter-users at lists.devloop.org.uk > https://lists.devloop.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/shifter-users > From antoine at nagafix.co.uk Sun Sep 20 06:23:54 2020 From: antoine at nagafix.co.uk (Antoine Martin) Date: Sun, 20 Sep 2020 12:23:54 +0700 Subject: [winswitch] window manager missing with html5 client In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <0efa4f44-d8e4-8e9c-5674-604217f1b48c@nagafix.co.uk> On 20/09/2020 02:00, Massimiliano Dal Cero via shifter-users wrote: > Hi all :) > > Three years ago I used xpra for a study project, and since then I haven't > worked on it anymore. > > I remember that xpra + xvfb + html5 client, had its own window manager. It does. But that's not going to help with shadow mode, which only exports one window. I assume that this ":2020" display is running an xpra seamless session? > What am I forgetting? > > (I need to use shadow mode because i record session with ffmpeg and without > it, the screen record are blank) Don't use a second server in shadow mode for this. You can record the vfb with ffmpeg as long as you set the --sync-xvfb option when you start your session. It would somehow "lock" the pointer, and not accept any input, unless I right-click, left-click for a considerate amount of time, repeatedly (I cannot find the ticket right now). It has happened with other apps too, but I haven't seen it recently as far as I remember. Sadly, I think the solution was to update Sublime Merge. Updating is strongly recommended. Note: to prevent some X11 desktop crashes seen only with Debian and Ubuntu, the packaging for those two distributions has been changed to use Xvfb instead of Xdummy. This may result in less accurate DPI and font sizes. You can switch back to Xdummy by modifying /etc/xpra/conf.d/55_server_x11.conf (this is not a bug in xpra but the fact that xpra can trigger it makes it our problem) Full release notes: * fix memory leak with 'scroll' encoding * fix NVENC encoder (profile errors) * fix unmanaged X11 message call which could cause GTK to crash when it fails * fix missing auto-refresh leaving a blurry image * fix incomplete repaints when window contents have padding * fix missing pixels on the edge of video areas in 'auto' encoding mode * fix connection errors with notifications disabled on the server * fix 'sync-xvfb' option: setup error, non-standard bit depth support * fix shadow server dbus SetRefreshDelay causing all further "xpra info" requests to fail * fix incomplete data in initial packets from shadow servers * fix error in dbus debug logging * fix client invalid list of encodings * fix missing system tray on Ubuntu 18.04 * fix workspace spurious warnings on 64-bit X11 systems * fix event handler with 64-bit MS Windows builds * fix named-pipe server clash * fix error handing in MS Windows printer query API * fix missing 'openssl' dependency in DEB packages * fix syntax error in HTML5 client maximize toggle * fix keysym mapping with Xkb and some specific configurations * fix right click on systray using the gtk StatusIcon implementation * fix small file transfers not showing as completed * fix file-transfer UI for download vs download-and-open not being honoured * fix file-transfer identifiers getting lost * fix int overflow errors on some 64-bit mswindows installations * fix websocket compatibility with some client / middleware * fix missing windows due to an error in the named window icon handling * fix hard to trigger mmap memory leak * add support for sm86 architecture with CUDA 11.1 * allow 'pager' source indication value to activate window server-side * switch to Xvfb on Debian and Ubuntu * workaround corruption on some windows when maximized * workaround more pyxdg bugs * make OpenGL probe timeout configurable * add missing DEB dependency * MacOS and MS Windows: fix security issue in brotli decompression The source: https://xpra.org/src/ Downloads: https://xpra.org/trac/wiki/Download Cheers Antoine
